Installation
Born in Lagos in 1984, Qudus Onikeku met Heddy Maalem in 2003. Maalem invited him to join his company in Toulouse. Onikeku trained at the Centre national des arts du cirque de Châlons-en-Champagne and in 2009 founded his own company in Paris: YK Projects. His first creations have an international reach. In 2014, he returned to Lagos where he opened The QDance Center, a resource, training, and talent scouting center; a unique pillar structure in Nigeria.
Qudus Onikeku develops a global artistic project, within which he associates all aspects of Yoruba culture. Through his company, he continues his creative work—from solo to group pieces—always in direct collaboration with visual artists, architects, musicians, or writers.
