In 1995, guitarist Tom Pauwels joined the Black Jackets Company, an experimental contemporary music collective composed of four composers and five performers. Since then, he has never stopped playing contemporary music, both on the classical and electric guitar.
Artistic co-director of Ictus since 2002, he collaborated from 1999 to 2001 with Champ D'Action, an experimental ensemble from Antwerp, and with the Belgian-English collective Plus Minus.
His interest in the performing arts has led him to collaborate with choreographers Xavier Le Roy (Mouvements für Lachenmann), Maud Le Pladec (Professor and Poetry) and Andros Zins-Browne (The Funerals). He teaches contemporary music at the Royal Conservatory of Ghent.
